Clam Cutlets (khubbe vade or tisre vade)

 


Clams are used to cook curries and side dishes,like tisre ekshimpi,clam curry in coconut based gravy,clam vada etc.Opening the shell of clams and taking out the flesh is the procedure to prepare the dish of clams.They taste great with onion and coconut combination as vada.Here is the recipe for clam vada.


INGRIDIENTS:

-1 CUP CLAMS( KHUBBE)

-3/4  CUP FRESH GRATED COCONUT

-1/2 TABLESPOON TURMARIC POWDER

-1/4 TABLESPOON TAMRIND EXTRACT(OR 2 PIECES OF TAMRIND)

-7-8 RED CHILLIES

-1/2 FINELY CHOPPED ONIONS

-1/2 CUP RICE RAVA

-1 CUP SAMOLINA

-OIL

-SALT AS PER TASTE


INSTRUCTION:


Clean the clams thoroughly.deshell the clams and seperate the flesh.cleaning clams is very necessary because it contains sand it may get in your mouth while eating clams.so properly clean them.

In a mixture jar add in grated coconut,turmaric powder,red chillies,tamrind and little bit of water,make a paste not smooth it has to be in a lumpy.Now  add this mixture in a bowl,add clams and mix well,now add onion,rice rava and mix well to a cutlet like consistency,adjust the salt

Make them into a small balls and flatten them into cutlets.Roll lightly in semolina(rava) and shallow fry them on a tawa with 1 tbsp oil.Once one side of cutlets turns golden brown,turn over the cutlets and fry the other side.

Serve as an apetizer or a side dish.if you dint get clams same procedure can be done with small prawns.
